Notice: The Recording Department offers in-person service by appointment at Citizens Service Center, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Services include recording documents and copy searches of documents. To make an appointment click here.
Only the person(s) necessary to complete the transaction will be allowed into the office. Only one transaction per appointment. Per the Governor’s Executive Order you must wear a face mask in our offices.
To meet the challenges COVID-19 presents to our community, our goal is to provide a safe and friendly environment to all of our customers in a timely manner. No-shows and late arrivals inconvenience other customers waiting to schedule appointments for their transactions. Failing to show for a scheduled appointment prevents other customers from receiving essential services.
Given the above, if you fail to show up for a scheduled appointment, without providing at least a 24-hour notice of cancellation, then you may jeopardize your ability to schedule future appointments.
You also may drop off documents to record in the drop box outside the east entrance of the Main Office. Seal your envelope, include payment if applicable and your contact information. Another option is to mail your documents to: Recording Department, Clerk and Recorder’s Office, 1675 W. Garden of the Gods Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80907.
Marriage licenses are available only by our remote process. For Marriage License procedures click here. Please contact us for further information by email recweb@elpasoco.com or call 719-520-6200.
Thank you for your consideration and patience.

Due to COVID-19 several requirements for marriage licenses are temporarily suspended.
Please refer to the “Marriage License Info” tab.

Licenses are good for up to 35 days. Once you’re married, the officiant must get the completed marriage certificate back to our office within 63 days. The following links provide additional information on all the steps!
