[El Paso County, Colo. – August 12, 2024] The Office of the Clerk and Recorder is hiring Temporary Election Judges for the 2024 General Election. Positions provide short-term support during the elections process – dates, locations, and hours vary. The hourly wages for these jobs begin at $16.50 per hour and have various job lengths from three days up to five weeks. Dates range from September 1, 2024, through December 1, 2024. Available Job Openings:
Logistics Judge
- Performs daily courier deliveries to the offices of the Clerk & Recorder and Voter Service & Polling Centers (VSPCs). Prepares, maintains, repairs, delivers, and retrieves computer, voting, and other supplies. Assists in the keeping of records and equipment information stored for archives.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
Call Center Representative
- Provides great customer service and information to voters by responding to routine phone calls. Must be able to take detailed messages and perform basic data entry.
Data Entry Clerk
- Provides data entry support to the Elections Department through the statewide database, ensuring accuracy and adhering to office rules.
Ballot Processing Judge
- Completes ballot processing tasks, like ballot sorting, scanning undelivered ballots, identifying signature discrepancies, removing ballots from envelopes, and ensuring there are no major tears or blemishes on the ballots.
Voter Service and Polling Center Judge
- Assists in daily functions of Voter Service and Polling Center(s), like registering voters, voter address changes, issuing ballots, helping voters to complete and sign forms and comply with election laws and rules.
Ballot Security Team
- Works as a bipartisan team to collect ballots from secure 24/7 drop-off boxes throughout the county and returns them securely to the office.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Typing speed of 30 WPM required in certain roles.
- Must follow rules as outlined in procedure manuals.
- Must adhere to ethical standards of conduct.
- Must be punctual, detailed, organized, cooperative, flexible, and able to follow instructions.
- Must communicate with county staff and the public – in person and/or by phone.
- Must work as part of a team.
- Must possess attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must operate standard office equipment, like a computer, phone, copy machine, scanner, and printer for certain jobs.
- Must multitask and shift schedule as needed would be ideal.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Required Education and Experience:
- Must be a U.S. citizen, registered to vote in Colorado, and sworn as an agent of the Clerk & Recorder’s Office to discharge the duties conveyed by CRS 42-1-210.
- Depending on the role, must be registered with a major political party.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must pass post-offer background check.
- Driver’s License check for certain roles.
Work Conditions:
Duties are performed mostly in an office. Requires work during various shifts and times; overtime and weekend hours may be required.
