Important News: New Recording Fees

The filing surcharge fee for all recorded documents had been increased by $2.00 for a period of 5 years, January 1, 2017 – December 31, 2021 and has now been extended to April 30, 2026. Added to the previous fee of $1.00, the total filing surcharge per recorded document is $3.00.

This additional $2.00 electronic filing surcharge was set by the Electronic Recording Technology Board (ERTB). The ERTB was created by SB16-115.

Effective January 1, 2017 Colorado recording fees are calculated as follows: With the new $3 surcharge, the amount for the first page is $13.00 and $5.00 for each additional page for all recorded documents.

Record Standard Documents

$13.00 for the first page, $5.00 for each additional page. A page is one side of up to and including an 8 1/2″ x 14″ sheet.

Record Oversized Documents

$13.00 for the first page, $10.00 for each additional page that is oversized. An oversized page is one side of a sheet larger than 8 1/2″ x 14″.

Record Plat/Condo Documents

$13.00 for the first page, $10.00 for each additional page. A subdivision or condo plat page is one side of a sheet larger than 8 1/2″ x 14″.

Record Land Survey Documents

$10.00 per page – A land survey plat is one side of a sheet larger than 8 1/2″ x 14″. Plus $10.00 El Paso County Surveyor fee per survey.

Record Release of Deed of Trust Documents

Release of Deed of Trust documents must be submitted to the Public Trustee’s Office prior to recording: El Paso County Public Trustee, 105 E Vermijo St., #101, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. http://elpasopublictrustee.com/

Record Mining Claim Documents

$5.00 per page plus $0.25 per name for each claim indexed. Plus $3.00 surcharge per document.

Record Federal Tax Lien

Documents $5.00 per document. Plus $3.00 surcharge per document.

Record State Unemployment & Sales & Use Tax Lien Documents

Free of Charge

Record Child Support Lien Documents

Free of Charge

Record Designated Beneficiary Agreements & Revocations

$10.00 for the first page, $5.00 for each additional page plus $3.00 surcharge per document. Two certified copies provided per C.R.S. 15-22-107(3)(b) and 15-22-111(2) at $0.25 per page plus $1.00 certification fee for each copy + postage for mailing to second party.

Documentary Fees

On all documents granting or conveying title to real property (C.R.S. 39-13-102) $0.01 per $100 consideration if consideration is greater than $500.

DD Form 214

There are no fees for recording DD Form 214. Certified copies are also provided free of charge .

A Request for Marriage/Civil Union License Application Copy along with valid form of identification is required to obtain a copy of a marriage/civil union license application.
