Elections Certifications

The commitment of the Clerk’s Office is to provide citizens with professional service and operational prowess, which is exemplified in the expertise and integrity of our staff members.

The El Paso County Elections Department is made up of 12 staff members: The Director of Elections, the Elections Administrative Lead, the Elections Operation Lead, and 9 Election Specialists. The department has nearly eighty years of combined elections experience and regularly receives local and national recognition for their efforts in election administration.

Every staff member in the department is either certified or working toward their certification as a Colorado Election Official, and completes recertification on an annual basis. By standardizing election procedures and education, the Colorado Election Official certification instills confidence in the system and the officials who conduct it. Additionally, staff members have graduated from the Certified Elections Registration Administrator (CERA) program – a national certification program for elections administrators – or are actively pursuing their certification. CERA certification also is achieved by other staff members who are responsible for the election process: Clerk and Recorder, Deputy Chief, and Information Systems Supervisor.
