The Office of the Clerk and Recorder reopened the Dealer’s Desk Monday, August 12. It was closed for four years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Dealer’s Desk is a specific DMV office. It allows the more than 140 car dealerships in El Paso County to file vehicle titles and registrations.

This office will help the local economy, as dealerships provide tax revenue to the county. This new office supports the work dealers do by creating a quicker process. It also frees up services and space for customers at our DMV offices.

“We are thrilled to open this state-of-the-art DMV office, designed to streamline processes and enhance the efficiency of dealer transactions,” said El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Steve Schleiker. “With dedicated staff and tailored services, we aim to make your experience smoother and more convenient.”

In 2020, amid the global pandemic, the Clerk and Recorder’s Office closed the Dealer’s Desk. In the past, dealers had to go to our DMV office and wait for a clerk to help them. Typically, dealer transactions can take many hours.

The Dealer’s Desk shows the Clerk’s partnership with the dealer industry. It gives dealers an exclusive office, staffed with trained clerks, to file complex paperwork more quickly.

“Dealers in Colorado Springs promote a lot of money towards El Paso County and we would like to be able to increase that,” said Anne Patterson of BML Dealer Supplies and Title Service. “This Dealer’s Desk helps our customers and (county) customers process their paperwork in a more efficient way.”
