Clerk and Recorder News Release

[El Paso County, Colo. – January 14, 2025] The El Paso County Commissioners appointed El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Steve Schleiker to the Pikes Peak Commission on Aging. The Commissioners officially appointed Steve to the position at their meeting on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

The Commission will assist the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging by the following:

  • Provide ongoing and embedded advocacy for older adults in the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments and to the PPACG Board of Directors.
  • Advise and make recommendations to the PPACG staff and Board of Directors on special issues and opportunities relating to the region’s aging population.
  • Review policies and legislation that affect older adults and make recommendations to the PPACG staff and Board of Directors relating to the region’s aging population.

Steve has been an advocate for seniors for many years, especially regarding housing during his time as the El Paso County Assessor. The Commissioners have also appointed Carolyn Kazdan and Wanda Wood to the commission along with Steve.

“I am truly honored to have the opportunity to work alongside Carolyn, Wanda, and the rest of the team to support and advocate for seniors in our region,” Steve said. “I am excited about the important work ahead and look forward to contributing to the efforts of the PPCOA and the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments.”

The Pikes Peak Commission on Aging meets on the third Wednesday of the month, 3 p.m. at the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments,14 S. Chestnut., Colorado Springs, CO.
