Elections Certifications

The commitment of the Clerk’s Office is to provide citizens with professional service. This is done thanks to the expertise and integrity of our staff members.

The El Paso County Elections Department is made up of 12 staff members. This includes the Director of Elections, the Elections Administrative Lead, and nine Election Specialists. The department has nearly 80 years of combined elections experience. The team often receives local and national recognition for their efforts in elections.

Every staff member in the department is either certified or working toward their certification as a Colorado Election Official. They must complete recertification on an annual basis. By standardizing election procedures and education, the certification instills confidence in the system and the officials who conduct it. Also, staff members have graduated from the Certified Elections Registration Administrator (CERA) program or are pursuing their certification. CERA certification is achieved by other staff members who are part of the election process. This includes the Clerk and Recorder, Deputy Chief, and Information Systems Supervisor.
