Couples preparing for their wedding are invited to receive their marriage or civil union license from the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office on Friday the 13th to celebrate Valentine’s Day and the superstitiously spooky date.
The Recording Department, located at 1675 W. Garden of the Gods Road, is hosting an event – Till Death Do Us Part – on Friday, February 13, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to celebrate couples receiving their marriage or civil union license and preparing for their upcoming wedding ceremony. The event will include photo opportunities and treats for couples and their family and friends.
“Marriage is one of life’s most meaningful milestones, and our goal is to make that moment memorable, welcoming, and easy for every couple,” said Steve Schleiker, El Paso County Clerk and Recorder. Whether you love Valentine’s Day, Friday the 13th, or both, we’re excited to celebrate couples as they take this next step together and to provide excellent service on a day they’ll remember forever.”
All couples are required to fill out the online marriage application before coming to the office to receive their license. The application fee is $30 and each certified copy costs $1.25. Each person must also bring a valid form of identification, including a driver’s license, passport or birth certificate. It’s important to remember the ceremony date must be within 35 days of receiving the license.
