The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office launched a new, free service to help residents protect their property from potential fraud. Through a partnership with Harris Recording Solutions, the Recording Notification Service (RNS) will notify residents when a document is recorded in their name.
RNS offers an added layer of protection by sending automatic emails to enrolled users whenever a document, such as a deed or lien, is recorded with the El Paso County Recorder’s Office in their name. This allows residents to act quickly if any recording is unauthorized, which is helpful in today’s era of rising fraud concerns.
The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office have been at the forefront of property protection. For years, the Recording Department has notified owners when a potentially fraudulent deed was filed on their property. However, that notification was through the mail. When it comes to fraud protection, time is of the essence. This new service alerts residents with a timely email when any document is recorded in their name.
“The Records Notification Service is a fast, free way for residents to protect themselves from deed and title fraud,” El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Steve Schleiker said. “By signing up, you’ll get an alert any time a document is recorded on your property, putting you in control and helping my office respond quickly if something looks off. This is another example of our commitment to customer service, transparency, and safeguarding El Paso County property owners.”
How the Service Works:
Enrolled residents will receive email alerts for up to 10 variations of names or businesses registered per email address. Harris Recording Solutions worked closely with the Recorder’s Office to ensure a smooth implementation of this secure, user-friendly service, which is available to residents at no cost.
“We’re excited to build on our long-standing partnership with the El Paso County Clerk & Recorder,” said Dave Johnson, Business Development Manager at Harris Recording Solutions. “This critical service gives residents the ability to register for a solution that helps protect them from the growing threat of property deed fraud. This is an important step forward in strengthening land record security and expanding protection for residents across Colorado.”
