Clerk and Recorder News Release

[El Paso County, Colo. – October 31, 2024] The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office will open 18 more Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPC), on Friday, November 1. These locations will also be open Saturday, November 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing an in-person voting option for voters who work during the week. An additional 14 locations will open Monday, November 4, as part of the last phase, bringing the total number of available VSPCs to 38. All locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 4 and 5.

Please note, the primary purposes of a Voter Center are to register new voters, update voter registrations, and issue ballots to voters that did not receive one in the mail. Voter Centers also offer ADA ballot marking devices for individuals with disabilities. If an individual prefers to vote in person, they may come to a Voter Center and receive a paper ballot to vote and deposit, or they can drop their completed mail ballot off in person. All ballots, whether mail ballot or in person are processed in the same manner.

Voters are encouraged to utilize their mail ballot and return their ballot to one of 41 secure 24/7 ballot drop-off boxes to cast their ballot. Voters seeking in-person service can receive any of the following services:

  • Register to vote
  • Update their voter registration
  • Request a replacement ballot
  • Utilize an ADA accessible ballot marking device
  • Vote in person on a paper mail ballot
  • Drop off their voted ballot

El Paso County VSPC locations are determined utilizing a geographic information system (GIS) and strategically placed throughout the county. Over 98 percent of the population live within 15 minutes from a drop box or VSPC. As a reminder, voters can return their ballot via USPS with 0.73 cents postage. The recommended last day to return your ballot via USPS is October 28, all ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m., on Election Day, postmarks do not count.

The Clerk’s Office expects turnout for the General Election to be extremely high at 90%. Voters are asked to vote their mail ballot early and return it at one of the 41 secure 24/7 ballot drop boxes throughout the county. Locations and maps are available at www.epcvotes.com. Early ballot returns will help the Election staff keep pace with processing Election Night Results Reporting in a timely manner.
