[Colorado Springs, Colo. – June 29, 2021] Customers needing in-person service at the Clerk and Recorder’s Motor Vehicle Offices will no longer need to make an appointment, effective July 6. The appointment system was implemented in 2020 due to COVID-19. The innovative system enabled the Clerk’s Office to maintain health guidelines from the CDC and regulate the number of people in the branch offices.
“Our Office continues to be committed to the health and wellbeing of both customers and staff members,” said Clerk and Recorder Chuck Broerman. “At this time with vaccinations available and the new, more relaxed health guidelines, we believe the appointment system is no longer necessary, while allowing for more customer visits. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation during the past year and are pleased to provide personal service when needed.”
Customers may visit any of the Clerk’s four branches for Motor Vehicle and Driver’s License services without an appointment. They should be aware that there may be longer wait times. All branches are open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, the North Office will be open 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. beginning July 10. The North Office will not be open Saturday, July 3, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
Many motor vehicle and driver’s license services are available online and customers are encouraged to visit the State Division of Motor Vehicles website to do their transactions. This is a convenient way for customers to easily get the service they need while avoiding lines and personal interaction.
For vehicle registration renewals, customers may also renew online, at a kiosk, by mail or phone 520-6240. There are 10 self-service kiosks including three that are 24/7, one at a branch, and six at King Soopers locations.
As a reminder, if in-person service is needed, we recommend visiting our office in the middle of the day and middle of the week. Monday and Friday tend to generate the highest volume of customer traffic, resulting in extended wait times for patrons.
