October 24, 2022 The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office has opened five more Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPC), today, Monday, October 24. All VSPCs will be open through the week 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

“I encourage voters to vote their mail ballot and return it at one of the 39 ballot drop box locations,” said Clerk and Recorder Chuck Broerman. “Voters can be confident in Colorado’s mail ballot election system that gives them time to make a decision and vote at their own pace. Our office is here to help; we are committed to enfranchising voters in our cherished democratic process. Only voters who need in-person services should utilize a Voter Service and Polling Center.”

Please note, the primary purposes of a Voter Center are to register new voters, update voter registrations, and issue ballots to voters who did not receive one in the mail. Voter Centers also offer ADA ballot marking devices for individuals with disabilities. If an individual prefers to vote in person, they may come to a Voter Center, surrender the ballot they received in the mail and be issued another paper ballot to vote and deposit. All ballots, whether mail ballot or voting in person are processed and tabulated in the same method at our centralized facility. A voter also can drop off their completed mail ballot in person at a VSPC.

On November 4, another 17 VSPCs will open, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday, November 5, from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

The final 14 VSPC locations will open on Monday, November 7, bringing the total to 37 that will be available through Election Day, November 8. All VSPCs will be open Monday, November 7 and Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The requirement for 37 VSPCs in El Paso County is dictated by State Statute in addition to County population. The locations are determined utilizing a geographic information system (GIS) and strategically placed throughout the county. Over 98 percent of the population live within 10 or 15 minutes from a VSPC or secure 24/7 ballot drop-off box.
